It has been years in the making, and tonight it finally became reality - Tomkiewicz ran 4:57.0 to become the 30th guy under 5:00 on our squad. We also did it in the purest way possible. Every guy who broke the barrier did it in an actual race. Some of you advanced your times in time trials, but the 30 were all done in a race. I'm hungry for more...Cox? Bogs? Pass?
An another note, every freshmen in every single event ran a PR tonight. Timmy J 4:48.3, Meincke 2:10.3, Gregorio 2:10.9, Blihovde 12:06, and (in the main event)...freshmen 4 x 800 in 10:43 with splits of 2:34 (Scheve), 2:33 (Zach Much), 2:45 (Spencer Much), and Nando Pacheco (2:49). Nando held off an anchor guy from Deerfield to get us 5th place. I actually think that they all got ribbons. Cool stuff.
The freshmen threw down the gauntlet...how many sophs are going to respond tomorrow? Bring it.
